Text: Isaiah 7:14

 

 

What happens when the promises of God are threatened?  For Ahaz, King of Judah and descendant of David, that is exactly the question that he faces in Isaiah 7.  Will he trust that God will keep his word no matter how dire things might look around him or will he go his own way, taking matters into his own hand?  God always calls us to trust in him because he will always keep his word.  Even if that means that he must circumvent our failures to do so.  That’s the essence of the virgin birth; that the God of the universe did anything it took to rescue us from our sin.
