The power of the Psalms lies within their honesty.  They are honest about who we are as human beings, what we experience, and what we feel.  They are honest about who God is, what he is like, and what he intends.  In the second Psalm, we learn the honest truth of who we are as a race: rebels defying the rightful ruler of the universe.  We learn who God is: the omniscient and omnipotent Lord who will punish sinners in his anger and fury.  But we also learn that there is hope for all who repent, worship, and surrender to him.
